Client of the Month: Elizabeth Farnsworth

 

Where did you grow up?

I grew up just outside of Salt Lake City Utah in a town called Sandy. We moved there when I was 12 so high school & college. I graduated in Architecture from the University of Utah. I moved to Az in 1997 to work with my Grandpa who was the first architect in Mesa. I’ve now lived in Az longer than any other place. My parents & sister still live there so I do get to go back.

How did you become interested in and how long have you been with Phoenix 360 Fitness?

Raylene Shelley told me about PHX360 & I joined in on the challenge with Jessica & Blaze. 🙂 5 or 6 years ago. I took a few years off & I missed the workouts & friendship so much. So I finally decided to face my fears and come back. It’s been a year. So grateful to be here! I love it!

What’s was your recent biggest hurdle and how did you overcome/managed it?

My biggest hurdle lately is figuring out how to stay out of my own head & keep moving forward. The Game Changer Program that PHX360 offers was so good for me. My body responded like I hoped. But then once the challenge was over it was like a switch in my brain flipped & I found myself drifting back to old habits. Trying to flip it back & keep moving forward has been challenging. But with the help/guidance of Ryan Lucero I’m learning. It’s definitely a long term process. But I love this program so I don’t see myself ever giving it up.

What motivates/inspires/determines you to train and push yourself to your limits?

I am motivated by what I want to become. I know what is possible & even though I have no idea how I will look, I want to find out. I want to push myself and see what my body can do. I also don’t want to end up with diabetes like my mom, aunts & great aunts.

How much do you exercise?

I come to S.W.E.A.T. Bootcamp 4-5 days a week & I walk 30-40 min M-F in the morning.

How has your training at Phoenix 360 helped you in your life?

Phoenix 360 has totally changed my life. I had my thyroid removed 4 years ago & it has changed my body more than I ever thought possible. But training at Phoenix 360 I have learned how to eat for my hypothyroidism & push my body via exercise. It’s so exciting!

What’s your favorite exercise?

I love S.W.E.A.T. Bootcamp. I love that each time I come, it’s different. I try to push myself each session so that I am sore. but sore is so good. 🙂 My body is changing & I love it! As for a favorite exercise…I like doing exercises with the Ultimate Sandbags. And I’m always proud when I can use the heavier ones. Especially on a clean & press.

How do you balance your time with a job, and taking care of yourself and your family and pups?

Balance is so important. For a long time I thought that there wasn’t a way to fit it all in. But I realized that if I’m not in balance, life sucks. I’m not happy & everything is overwhelming. I’m a planner & I love a good list. So I sat down & figured out how I could fit it all in. I started with one change & when that worked, I added another. And much to my surprise & happiness, it is possible to get it all in. It allows me to spend time with my husband, love/take care of my sweet pups (I now have 3) & keep moving toward my goals. Thank goodness for weekends. I get extra time with the pups & I can meal prep & plan out the week. Did I mention I love to plan? 🙂

If you could give our readers one health weightloss tip, what would it be?

My best tip is to keep going. Life will always throw you a curve ball & you will be thrown off course. But keep moving forward. A bad day doesn’t have to become a bad week. But if it does, accept it. It’s now in the past & you aren’t going that direction. Make a course correction & start again. It’s a constant battle in the beginning but the more you change, the easier it becomes & eventually it’s your happy life. 🙂
