May Client of the Month: Cliff Coffaro

Where did you grow up? Neenah, WI

How did you become interested in and how long have you been with Phoenix 360 Fitness? A good friend, Joe McCawley mentioned he was working out right in our neighborhood and really liked the challenging work-outs.  I have been at PHX360 for 1 year and 9 months.

What motivates/inspires/determines you to train and push yourself to your limits? Many things but just to name a few: My wife Pam and how she takes care of herself, my daughter Elizabeth and what she has accomplished within PHX360, my son Andrew and his 20 year old lifeguard physique, having more energy, having much better control of my Type 1 diabetes, wanting to walk Elizabeth down the aisle at her wedding, getting to tour Sicily with Pam, going on a Caribbean cruise this summer, wearing loose fitting clothes, and having to add another hole in my belt.

What’s was your biggest hurdle?  Losing and keeping weight off while wearing a insulin pump and keeping my blood sugar in tight control.

How did you overcome it? Due to the recent PHX360 ProDiets regimen Ryan custom tailored for me and the consistent S.W.E.A.T. camp work outs he also suggested for me I was able to put into my insulin pump the exact amount of carbs and other information necessary to keep an impeccably stable blood sugar control and ultimately start dropping the weight.

How much do you exercise?  It does vary somewhat but I could say for sure I get there 4 times minimum a week.  Finding myself there 6 times a week is a REALLY good week…….meaning I love it when I can make it there that many times.

How has your training at Phoenix 360 helped you in your life?  Wow, that is a loaded question.  The energy, the excitement, the fun and often very playful leadership has been extremely enjoyable to be a part of and a witness to.  After a year and a half of attendance it still boggles the mind how anyone (and all of the staff is great at it) can push you to accomplish so much, hitting so many muscle groups and leave you both exhausted and inspired to greatness all in 30 minutes!!  Going to PHX360 with my wife has been a great motivator for both of us; we now have another commonality we have not shared in a while.

What’s your favorite exercise?  TRX curls!!  My arms are my (only) strength!!  HaHa

How do you balance your time with a job, and taking care of yourself?  One word, prioritize!!  I’ve found this to be very true……if I am not exercising regularly it is harder for me to do my job, be a good husband and father, and the list goes on and on.  We live a half mile from the gym so after driving from my job in north phoenix, I get home just in time to change and get to the 6:15 class.  It is a mental rush going through traffic most every day just to make that class but I look so much forward to the release of stress and the energy from the workout it is all worth it.

If you could give our readers one health weightloss tip, what would it be?  Set one goal, small or big but be realistic and then to help you achieve that goal use printed images and quotes or whatever it takes to get you excited about attaining that goal. Prioritize just about everything you’re doing around that goal.  Once you reach the first goal you will feel so good you will be ready to set the next goal.
